Sample Briefing — Placeholder (Replace Me)
July 20, 2026 · NewsPlay Editorial
This is a dummy placeholder post that demonstrates the NewsPlay Briefing format — frontmatter, headings, links, and inline 'Watch live coverage' links. Delete it and write real briefings.
This is placeholder content — not a real news story. It exists only to show the Briefing post format so it can be reviewed. Replace this file with real editorial posts in `/content/briefings/`.
What a briefing looks like
A briefing is a short, plain-language explainer on a developing story, written to give readers context they can act on. Each post supports standard markdown: paragraphs, headings, bold text, bulleted lists, and links.
Use it for things like:
- A quick primer on a breaking story and why it matters
- Background on an ongoing situation viewers keep asking about
- A roundup pointing readers to the live channels covering an event
Linking to live coverage
The key feature: any briefing can point readers straight to a live stream on NewsPlay. For example — Watch live coverage → drops an inline link to a channel's watch page. You can add as many as the story needs, e.g. Watch live coverage →.
Writing real posts
To publish a real briefing, add a markdown file to `/content/briefings/` with `title`, `date`, `author`, and `summary` in the frontmatter. It's picked up automatically at build time, appears on the Briefing index, and gets its own page with Article structured data. This sample can be safely deleted once real posts exist.
